このCDで使われた個性豊かな１９世紀のエラールピアノは、現代ピアノとは一線を画した透明度の高い音色を響かせる。その音色が、さりげなくサティ独特のハーモニーに親しみを感じさせてくれるのだ。もちろん、オガワの演奏だろう。彼女がドビュッシー演奏で見せた魅力と同様に、ここでも明快で明晰な音楽性が光っている。サティはわけがわからない…いや、この録音でその言葉は出てこない。プログラムも良く考えられた構成となっている。

…that characterful late nineteenth century Erard piano whose distinctive timbres and relative transparency of tone compared to modern concert grands subtly tempers our understanding of Satie’s harmonies. There’s also Ogawa’s playing, ‘the same qualities of clarity, articulation and musicality that make her solo Debussy such a pleasure. Wishy-washy Satie this is not.’ It’s a well structured recital as well.
